  1. Project bite

I honestly wish I were a great cook. I'm sure most of us feel like this once in a while. After seeing many many cooking shows. My favorite cooking shows right now are Master Chef US, Hell's kitchen, Nigella Lawson (I don't remember the name of the show since she has a couple of shows. I love all of them. ), Bobby Chinn cooks Asia, World Cafe Asia and Junior Master Chef Australia. I love pictures of food and of course eating non-pictured food. I even have a folder full of pictures of tasty looking, well-garnished food. They look so edible. You could just lick the screen while viewing them.
So, I have decided to achieve a 'cooking achievement' in 730 days. I got the inspiration from 'Julie and Julia' movie. I saw the movie in 2009 and I have wanted to do this for a long time now.

What Julie did in the movie in order to do something she enjoys she decided to cook ever recipe in 'Mastering the art of French cooking' by Julia child in one year. (524 recipes) She also blogged about all of the recipes she cooked. How she did it, the improvements, precautions and everything.

Since I don't cook at all I might not be able to cook 524 recipes but I'm aiming for a 100 recipes. If I'm able to cook 100 recipes I think I might cook 100+ recipes in less than a year. I'm going to call this 'Project bite.'
I even made a logo for this project. ----->

I have my exam this month so I will start the countdown next month. But here's my first experience of making pancakes. (I know it's pretty simple and everything, but it was my first time making pancakes, which is huuuge.)
I did try to make pancakes before this. But all of them got burnt that day and it was a total waste. I tried it again and it was a success. It's actually really easy. Here's how I made mine and some tips for you.

2 eggs, 2 and a 1/2 cup of all purpose flour, 1/2 table spoon baking powder, 1 and a 1/2 cup of milk, 1 table spoon vanilla essence and 1/3 cup of sugar (optional. There's actually no need to add sugar because you can get all the sweetness you want from maple syrup or any other syrup.)  This was the recipe I used for one batch of pancakes. Oh and butter. You need to add butter too. I don't know the exact amount I added but you can never have too much butter unless it is too much butter. Okay? That didn't make any sense. Moving on.
My other batch I didnt add sugar but I added a large bar of chocolate.
One of the best things about pancakes is that there's like 15% chance of you screwing the whole thing. There's not much to do. Just mix the ingredients to make the batter. This way you don't think of yourself as a loser who can't cook or make pancakes.

Then you just add about 2 tablespoons of batter onto the frying pan and fry it. I used a non-sticky frying pan but if you are using a sticky frying pan you have to melt some butter on it before adding the batter.

I don't know how long I cooked it but after spending 3-4 minutes on each side would give you golden brown, delicious pancakes. Do check before flipping it over because if you flip it and it's not done well, you just stand there and stare at it and say 'God dammit! Cook yourself! I command you.' and it get's messy. So just lift the edge of the pancake with a knife to see if it's golden brown.

Adding the batter onto the pan with a tablespoon can be a bit hard and tricky. So you could use an empty ketchup bottle or any bottle from which you can squeeze the batter, it would make your job a lot easier.

And one more thing. You must never ever ever pat a pancake. It makes it flat and it's not as fluffy as you want it to be.
So that's that. You can make 7 pancakes from the amount of ingredients I mentioned earlier. If I knew I would be posting this, then I would have taken pictures of everything, step by step. So I used googled pictures in this post. But for my next project, I will make sure I attach pictures of my own work.

But here's an actual picture of the pancakes I made. It was delicious.

Happy pancaking everyone. Oh and how's the name? 'Project bite'? Let me know if you could think of a better name. Bye.
